Athens, 15 November 2022 . TIKUN Europe, the leading pharmaceutical company in research, development and production of medical cannabis products in Greece, and the Greek pharmaceutical group Lavipharm, are entering into a strategic partnership for the distribution of Tikun’s new products, which are anticipated to be launched in the Greek market in 2023.

Tikun’s new product lines concern, both the finished medical cannabis products that will be produced exclusively at its facility in Greece, and the new specialized line of cannabidiol (CBD) food supplements to be produced at a certified production facility in France. As part of the agreement, Lavipharm will assume the commercial distribution of Tikun’s products in the Greek market. The duration of the contract is 5 years, with an option to further renew.

The market for medical cannabis in Europe is growing rapidly, reflecting the need of both the medical community and patients. In the Greek market, the agreement with Tikun Europe further strengthens Lavipharm’s portfolio in the therapeutic categories of focus, such as Oncology, Chronic Pain and the Central Nervous System.

Athens, 28/07/2022 TIKUN Europethe largest pharmaceutical company in the medical cannabis industry in Europe, pioneer in the research, development and production of medicinal cannabis products worldwide, welcomed the first mother plants from Israel, for the purpose of starting the cultivation in the company’s facility at Korinthos. The transportation of the mother plants took place on Friday, July 22nd and was carried out by Skyserv Ground Handling Services at Athens International Airport, Eleftherios Venizelos, in the presence of company’s executives.

The shipment of the plants was made in specially designed containers under controlled environment ensuring the best possible conditions throughout the transportation from Israel to their final destination. The plants, after the clearance from the competent authorities, were immediately transferred to the company’s production unit at Korinthos, in order to initiate the transplantation process. The company aims in the immediate initiation of cultivation in the vertically integrated greenhouse unit, with an area of 21,000 m² and an annual production capacity, reaching in full growth, the quantity of 10 tons of dry flower. The plants received will be used for propagation under strict protocols that will ensure the preservation of the unique characteristics of the mother plants to the future generations. The facility is expected to reach its full capacity levels gradually in the near future, to deliver a wide variety of finished medical cannabis dosage forms.

TIKUN Europe’s greenhouse and production units are designed to comply with the GACP / EU-GMP standards, which ensure high quality and safety complying with the national legislation for the cultivation and processing of medical cannabis. Athens, 06/06/2021: . TIKUN Europe, the largest pharmaceutical company in the medical cannabis industry in Europe, has received a license to start the operations on its factory. The production process of the final medical cannabis products is expected in the near future.

TIKUN Europe’s factory is located in a privately owned area of 56,000 sq. m. in Corinth and is an investment of more than 30 million euros. The production facility is fully vertically integrated, having a R&D department and high-tech equipment. Tikun Europe’s factory has three distinct units: the greenhouse cultivation area, the post-harvest processing area, and the area designated for the production and packaging of finished medical cannabis products.

Also, TIKUN Europe’s factory, complies with the GACP / EU-GMP standards of the European Union and the domestic legislation for the cultivation and processing of medical cannabis, while its operation will be carried out with absolute responsibility and respect for the environment and the local community.

The new production unit was visited by the Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, on Friday, June 3rd. The Minister's visit took place at a pivotal/crucial moment for the Company, following the legislation on medical cannabis and his first tour of the factory that had taken place 2 years ago. The Minister confirmed that the Government's commitment to investments has been implemented, with the plant launching the production process starting July.

Τεράστιο ενδιαφέρον για την ανάπτυξη φαρμακευτικών σκευασμάτων κάνναβης, έχουν επιδείξει κολοσσοί της παγκόσμιας Φαρμακοβιομηχανίας. Επτά κορυφαίες φαρμακευτικές επιχειρήσεις, έχουν ήδη προχωρήσει την υλοποίηση των σχετικών επενδύσεων, γυρίζοντας σελίδα στα όσα γνωρίζαμε μέχρι σήμερα για τις θεραπευτικές επιλογές.

Η Ελλάδα έχει ευνοϊκό περιβάλλον για καλλιέργειες φαρμακευτικής κάνναβης, χάρη στις κλιματικές και γεωφυσικές συνθήκες. Ευνοϊκό είναι και το οικονομικό περιβάλλον. Η αγορά φαρμακευτικής κάνναβης στην Ευρώπη αναπτύσσεται με ετήσιο ρυθμό πάνω από 67%. Εκτιμάται ότι – έως το 2025 – η αξία της φαρμακευτικής κάνναβης στην Ευρώπη θα ξεπεράσει τα 3,2 δισεκατομμύρια ευρώ. Η “νομιμοποίηση” της κάνναβης έχει μπει στην ατζέντα αρκετών ευρωπαϊκών κρατών, μεταξύ των οποίων η Γερμανία, the Ολλανδία και η Ελβετία, ενώ η Μάλτα έγινε η πρώτη χώρα σε ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο, η οποία νομιμοποίησε την κάνναβη για ψυχαγωγική χρήση.

Στη χώρα μας, το νομοθετικό πλαίσιο για τη φαρμακευτική κάνναβη έχει οριστεί τα τελευταία χρόνια. Υπάρχει σαφής διαχωρισμός της φαρμακευτικής από τη βιομηχανική κάνναβη. Αναφορικά με την τελευταία, αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι από το 2013 (νόμος 4139/13), τα προϊόντα της βιομηχανικής κάνναβης δεν περιλαμβάνονται στις ναρκωτικές ουσίες και τις συνθήκες κυκλοφορίας τους στην αγορά. Αυτά είναι τα ακατέργαστα συγκομιζόμενα προϊόντα που προκύπτουν από την καλλιέργεια ποικιλιών κάνναβης του είδους Cannabis Sativa L περιεκτικότητας σε τετραϋδροκανναβινόλη (ΤΗC) μέχρι 0,2%. Επιπλέον, ο υπουργός Αγροτικής Ανάπτυξης, ανακοίνωσε προ ημερών στη Βουλή πως το όριο περιεκτικότητας της βιομηχανικής κάνναβης ως προς τη δραστική ουσία τετραϋδροκανναβινόλη (THC) θα οριστεί, από το 2023, και στη χώρα μας σε 0.3%. Με τον τρόπο αυτό, η χώρα μας θα εναρμονιστεί με τα όσα ορίζονται στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση.

Αναφορικά με τη Φαρμακευτική κάνναβη, το εγχώριο επενδυτικό ενδιαφέρον εντείνεται και οι εξελίξεις που αφορούν τη φαρμακευτική κάνναβη είναι καταιγιστικές. Οι ευκαιρίες για τη χώρα μας, για τους ασθενείς  και τις εξαγωγές θα είναι ήδη πολύ σημαντικές.

Σημαντικές συμφωνίες σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο

Παγκοσμίως, το επιχειρηματικό δελτίο περιλαμβάνει πολλές και ενδιαφέρουσες συμφωνίες. Ο φαρμακευτικός κολοσσός Pfizer προχωρά στην εξαγορά της εταιρείας Arena Pharmaceuticals, έναντι 6,7 δισεκατομμυρίων δολαρίων. Είναι γνωστό πως ένα από τα πιο φιλόδοξα υπό ανάπτυξη προϊόντα της Arena Pharmaceuticals, που αφορά στην αντιμετώπιση του πόνου λόγω γαστρενετερικών παθήσεων όπως η νόσος του Crohn και το σύνδρομο ευερέθιστου εντέρου, περιέχει το μόριο Olorinab ή APD371 που στοχεύει σε υποδοχέα του ενδο-κανναβινοειδούς συστήματος.

Η Johnson & Johnson συνεργάζεται από το 2017 με την καναδική εταιρεία έρευνας και ανάπτυξης προϊόντων φαρμακευτικής κάνναβης Avicanna. Η Novartis συνεργάζεται με την Tilray για την ανάπτυξη και διάθεση φαρμακευτικών προϊόντων κάνναβης. Η βιο-φαρμακευτική εταιρεία Jazz Pharmaceutical εξαγόρασε τη GW Pharmaceuticals τον Μάιο του 2021. H GW είναι η εταιρεία που ανέπτυξε το φαρμακευτικό σκεύασμα Epidiolex (ή Epidyolex), το οποίο αποτελεί το πρώτο εγκεκριμένο προϊόν κάνναβης από τον Αμερικανικό Οργανισμό Τροφίμων και Φαρμάκων (FDA) και τον αντίστοιχο Ευρωπαϊκό (EMA) για την αντιμετώπιση των συνδρόμων παιδικής επιληψίας Lenox – Gastaut, και Dravet κι εσχάτως και των επιληπτικών κρίσεων που σχετίζονται με το σύνδρομο οζώδους σκλήρυνσης.

Η AbbVie διέθετε στην παγκόσμια αγορά, επί 35 χρόνια, το φαρμακευτικό σκεύασμα dronabinol, πριν πουλήσει τα δικαιώματά του στην Alkem Labs, το 2019. Το δραστικό συστατικό του συγκεκριμένου σκευάσματος είναι συνθετικό κανναβινοειδές και συνταγογραφείται ως αντι-εμμετικό σε καρκινοπαθείς οι οποίοι υποβάλλονται σε χημειοθεραπεία. Χορηγείται, επίσης, σε ασθενείς με AIDS για την αντιμετώπιση της ανορεξίας. Η εταιρεία Teva, έχει συνάψει συμφωνία με την πρωτοπόρο στον τομέα της φαρμακευτικής κάνναβης Tikun Olam – Cannbit Pharmaceuticals Ltd. για την αποκλειστική διάθεση των προϊόντων της στο Ισραήλ. Η Teva είναι παγκοσμίως μία από τις μεγαλύτερες φαρμακευτικές εταιρείες παραγωγής γενοσήμων φαρμάκων.
